10 out of 10
In a word, "awesome."  The game's engine uses real world physics in such a realistic way as to make the gameplay very real to the user.  The game's style and feel are all new.  This is not like ant other 3D shooter out there.  Quake II and III, Tomb Raider II and III, and  all other games simply do not have an engine that can take real photos and apply them to the game world like Unreal can.
The weapons within the game are also extremely well designed, each weapon having two modes of firing allowing the player to use the weapon as they see fit. For instance the automag, a standard bullet firing pistol, allows you to either shoot it normally allowing a slower fire rate and  more accuracy, or gangster style which turns the gun sideways and increases the firing rate while decreasing the accuracy.

In Unreal, you are a prisoner aboard a ship en route to a  penal colony. The ship crashes on a mysterious planet where  the mystical Nali race is being subjugated by the cruel and technologically advanced Skaarj. As you journey through the many environments on the planet, you must find a means of escape from the planet and help the Nali defeat their oppressors. Unreal intertwines the feel of the medieval Nali architecture and culture with the sci-fi design of the weapons and the Skaarj warriors to create an environment that's a step above other games.

There are thousands of maps and areas out there that have been made for this game.  This is because it is so easy to create a new area with the "Unreal editor" software provided with the game.  These areas each have unique layouts, buildings, textures, and effects.  Most are worth the free download.

There are many great add-ons for this game, which change the characters, weapons, and even the "feel" of the worlds.  My favorite add-on is "Infiltration."  This is a free add-on which allow the user to fight other users on-line in team matches.  This game teaches team work and skills in thinking "3D."
