Packed with 14 types of prehistoric dinosaurs to hunt,
Carnivores 2 features many new dinosaurs including:
Allosaurus
"Different Lizard"
These dinosaurs are very nasty.
These guys are all teeth, claws, and fangs.
Allosaurus was a powerful predator that walked on two powerful legs, had a strong, s-shaped neck, and had vertebrae that were different from those of other dinosaurs. Length: up to 38 feet Weight: up to 2 or more tons Height: up to 15 feet |
Ceratosaurus
"Horn Lizard"
One mean dinosaur.
Ceratosaurus was a very powerful predator that walked on two robust legs. Its neck had s-shaped curve with powerful muscles. The short horn on its snout was a good weapon when paired with its strong neck. Ceratosaurus' bones were heavier than most other dinosaur bones. Its arms were short and it had four-fingered hands with sharp claws. It also had large eyes. Length: up to 20 feet Weight: more than 1 ton Height: up to 10 feet |
Dimetrodon
"Two measures - tooth"
Dimetron was a not a Dinosaur, but a pelycosaur!
Found anything to munch on today?
The dimetrodon had a fin, which may have helped it regulate its temperature or made it look much larger than its enemies. Its fossils have been found in North America. It was probably warm blooded, because it shared many characteristics with modern mammals. Length: up to 12 feet Weight: up to 550 pounds Height: up to 6 feet |
Spinosaurus
"Spiny Lizard"
These dinosaurs had a very good sense of smell.
Spinosaurus is called "spiny lizard" because it had a series of large neural spines up to 6 feet long coming out if its back vertebrae. Spinosaurus was able to walk on its two powerful legs, but it was able to also walk on all fours if it needed to. It teeth were non-serrated, but were set in a powerful, crocodile-like lower jaw. Its arms were smaller than its legs but were larger than the arms of most other theropods. Length: up to 50 feet Weight: up to 4 tons Height: up to 25 feet |
Tyrannosaurus Rex
"Tyrant King or Thunder Lizard"
T-Rex was a very powerful dinosaur that was able to hold up to 500 pounds of meat in one bite! Length: up to 40 feet Weight: up to 7 tons Height: up to 20 feet |
Velociraptor
"Speedy Thief"
This dinosaur is one FAST runner!
But not as fast as an arrow.
Velociraptor was a speedy dinosaur with sharp claws and teeth. It was much smaller than a T-rex, but it was still very deadly. With its powerful legs it could reach 40 mph! Length: 6 or more feet Weight: up to 50 pounds Height: 3 or 4 feet. |
Anklyosaurus
"Bent Lizard"
Now I know why they call this dinosaur, "THE TANK."
Watch out for that club like tail!
Do those plants taste good?
Ankylosaurus was a large armored dinosaur, measuring about 25-35 feet long, 6 feet wide and 4 feet tall. This armor protection was made of thick oval plats, which were embedded into its leathery skin. These plats has spikes, horns and ended in a club like tail. Weight: 5 tons Height: about 4 feet |
Brachiosaurus
"Arm Lizard"
Here is an early morning snap shot.
Brachiosaurus was one of the tallest and largest dinosaurs, which we have discovered. It had a very long neck, small head, and relatively short, thick tail. It walked on four legs. Unlike most other dinosaurs, its front legs were longer than its hind legs. It's heart had to be very massive to pump blood all the way to it's small head. These dinosaurs stood over 40 to 60 feet tall and tipped the scales at 80 tons! Baby Brachiosauruses were found inside the abdominal cavity of an adult Brachiosaurus. These babies did not have shells, so it is believed that Brachiosaurus gave live births! Was this huge animal warm blooded too? Length: up to 80 feet Weight: up to 80 tons Height: up to 60 feet |
Chasmosaurus
"Cleft Lizard"
This Chasmosaurs is looking for some tasty plants to eat.
Watch out! These Dinosaurs can charge you. Here is one dead hunter,
who is being kicked around.
Chasmosaurs has a bird like beak, as you can see here.
Many types of dinosaurs can be found on these islands.
Chasmosaurus was a rhinoceros like dinosaur with three short horns and a frilled crest around its skull. Length: 16-26 feet Weight: about 1.5 tons Height: about 7 to 8 feet |
Galimimus
"Rooster mimic"
These guys are small and very easy to observe.
Gallimimus had hollow bones like a bird, yet was far larger than bird. Its brain was much larger than many other dinosaurs, yet it was an Herbivore. Its mouth was a very long, thin, flattened, toothless, horny beak. It had large eyes positioned on opposite sites of its head, ruling out binocular vision (depth perception). Length: up to 17 feet Height: up to 10 feet Weight: up to 1,000 pounds |
Moschops
This moshchops is looking for a plant to eat.
These animals are quite harmless, but they are fun to chase!
Moschops was a large therapsid, an ancestor of the mammals. It walked on 4 legs; the front legs were sprawling but the rear legs were more column-like. Length: up to 16 feet Height: up to 5 feet Weight: up to 900 pounds |
Dimorphodon
"two-form tooth"
These flyers had teeth!
Dimorphodon was a pterosaur ( flying reptile) and not a dinosaur. It had a huge head with deep, wide, toothed jaws resembling the beak of the modern-day puffin. Pterosaurs were flying reptiles that ranged in size from a few inches to over 40 feet. They had hollow bones, were lightly built, and had small bodies. They had large brains and good eyesight. Some pterosaurs had fur on their bodies. Wing span: about 4 feet ( some had huge 40 feet wingspans!) Weight: up to 30 pounds |
Parasaurolophus
"Crested Lizard"
Out in the wild, parasaurolophus' mating call can be heard from miles
away.
These guy is a real trophy.
Parasaurolophus was duck-billed dinosaur with a long-crest . Its extremely long, backwards-leaning, hollow, bony crest was larger than the rest of its skull and may have been used to produce low-frequency, foghorn-like sounds. Length: up to 33 feet Height: up to 16 feet Weight: up to 4 tons |
Pteranodon
"Winged and Toothless"
I had to bring down these poor Pterandons to take their photos.
Pteranodons were flying reptiles (pterosaurs). They had hollow, light bones, almost no tail, and small bodies with light fur. They had very large brains compared to other dinosaurs and good eyesight. They had no teeth. Wingspan: up to 25 feet Weight: up 35 or 40 pounds. |
Stegosaurus
"Roofed Lizard"
This stegosaurs is as harmless as a cow.
A cow with a spiked tail!
I wonder what this Stegosaurs is thinking with his small brain.
That hay must taste good in the hours before sunrise.
Stegosaurus had 17 bony plates that were embedded in its back. Since they were not attached to its bones, no one is 100% sure exactly how they were positioned. Also, the function of these plates is uncertain. The plates were made of bone which was not solid, but was filled with tube-like tunnels. The plates were prbobaly well-nourished by blood vessels, indicating that the plates may have been used to regulate the dinosaur's temperature. They may have also been used for protection or mating display purposes. Stegosaurus also had tail spikes at the end of its flexible tail. These spikes were up to four feet long and were used for protection from predators. Different species of Stegosaurus had different numbers of tail spikes; Stegosaurus ungulatis had 8 spikes and Stegosaurus stenops had 4 spikes. Stegosaurus' rear legs were longer and straighter than its front legs, which sprawled out to the sides. The forefeet (the feet of the front legs) had five short, wide toes with short, hoof-like tips. The rear feet had three short, wide toes with hooves. Its brain was rather small compared to other dinosaurs. Its brain weighed
about 2.5 to 3 ounces! This may seem very small, but this animal
was able to live on the earth for a very long time and its fossils have
been found in North America, India, and Africa!

Triceratops
"Three horned"
These dinosaurs are dangerous with their horns.
Triceratops was a rhinoceros-like dinosaur with a thick protective shield. It walked on four sturdy legs and had three horns on its face. Its mouth was like that of a parrot, with a beak. It had a very large skull, which was up to 10 feet (3 m) long, one of the largest skulls of any land animal ever discovered. Its head was nearly one-third as long as its body. Triceratops hatched from eggs. Length: up to 30 feet Height: up to 10 feet Weight: up to 12 tons! |
